International Women's Day Programme: March 14, 2009.

Samam celebrated the International Women's Day with a grand programme on the March 14th, 2009. The programme which was held in the Mallika Thirumana Nilyamam, Murungapakkam was attended by more than 500 women delegates from the Samam Federation. The crowd was unprecedented and the women were very enthusiastic about the programme.

The programme started with a welcome address by Ms.R.Marimuthu, Secretary, Samam. The programme was presided over by Ms.A.Hemavathi, President, Samam who spoke on the relevance of the programme.

Ms.Sudha Sundararaman, one of the founder members of Samam spoke in length and this was widely appreciated by the audience. Later Writer Madhukkoor Ramalingam also addressed the audience, followed by Mr.N.T.Sivadasan, Supdt. of Police (North), Pondicherry, Ms.J.Chandrasekharan, Lead District Bank Manager, Indian Bank and Ms. S.Kamalini of the Women's Commission, Pondicherry.

Prof. S.Srinivasan, JIPMER (and President of Pondicherry Science Forum) and Mr.R.Dakshinamoorthy (Adviser, Samam and PSF) also addressed the audience. At the end of the programme, Ms.M.Valarmathi, Treasurer, Samam proposed the Vote of Thanks.

The programme ended by 3.00 pm in the evening.
