National Science Day 2012 : February 28, 2012

The National Science Day 2012 was celebrated with two key science lectures by Dr.Sultan Ismail and Er.CE. Karunakaran from Chennai and an Inaugural Address from Mr.Theva Neethi Dhas, IAS, Secretary, S&T, Govt. of Puducherry. The programme was celebrated in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Puducherry.

Er.CE Karunakaran spoke on the National Science Day topic "Clean Energy Options and nuclear safety" where as Dr.Sultan Ismail talked about "For the sake of Earth" outlining the need for all citizens to be caring for the Earth.

Cyclone Thane Hits Pondicherry, Cuddalore!

The cyclone Thane that striked from the midnight of the 29th of December 2011 has caused extensive damage to Pondicherry and the neighbouring Cuddalore district. There has been no power, water, phones, or even mobile communication. About 8 people died in Pondicherry and about 40 dead in the Cuddalore district. Thousands of birds have been dead, acres of mangroves destroyed, thousands of trees uprooted, houses damaged etc. The official rough estimate has been 2000 crore damage in Pondicherry.

Make Science Competitions 2012 : VI Edition: Announcement.

This is the first call for the VI Edition of the Make Science Competitions, which are exclusively held for the students of Class 7, 8, 9 & 11 of the Government schools of Puducherry district. This programme is catalyzed and supported by the University of Paris, South 11, Orsay, France and is conducted on the same lines of the NCSC programme.

19th State Level Children's Science Congress: Puducherry: Jawahar Balbhavan: 23 & 24 November 2011

The 19th State Level Children's Science Congress of Puducherry UT will be held at Jawahar Balbhavan on the 23rd and 24th of November 2011. About 30 project teams selected from the various enclaves of Puducherry will present their project reports in the Congress, out of which the best 6 projects will go to the National Children's Science Congress to be held at Jaipur from December 27th to 31st, 2011.

Children's Science Festival, Karaikal

A five day Children's Science Festival was held from 3rd October to 7th October 2011, in the Govt. High School, Kovilpathu, Karaikal in which more than 100 children from Yanam, Puducherry, Mahe and Karaikal participated. The festival was catalyzed and supported by the Department of Science, Technology & Environment, Govt. of Puducherry in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education.

Karaikkal Children's Science Festival: 3rd to 7th October 2011

Pondicherry Science Forum is organizing a Children's Science Festival at Karaikkal involving children from the 4 different enclaves of Pondicherry - Mahe (in Kerala), Yanam (in Andhrapradesh), Pondicherry and Karaikkal. The Karaikkal District PSF Unit is organizing the Festival where in 50 guest students from Pondicherry, Yanam and Mahe will stay with 50 host children from Karaikkal. The festival is scheduled for five days from 3rd October to 7th October 2011.

Best Teacher Awards for PSF Teachers!

PSF heartily congratulate all the teachers who have been awarded the Best Teacher Awards this year.

Ms.Mangayarkarassi has won the National Award for the Best Teacher while Mr.B.Ravichandrane,Mrs.Bhanumathi (Karaikkal) and Mr.C.Rajavelu have won the State Best Teacher Awards.

NCSC 2011: Guide Teacher Training Programme: Puducherry: 24th June 2011

A one day Guide Teacher Training Programme was conducted for the Puducherry district for the National Children's Science Congress 2011 at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of School Education, III Floor on the 24th of June 2011. Various themes were covered by the resource persons who included Mr.M.Sudarshan, Mr.Presenna, Ms.M.Souzaane, Ms.Devapriya and Ms.M.Shobana.
